Rehabilitation of water and sanitation supply

Description: As a consequence of the Iraq War in the beginning of 2003 major public infrastructure was destroyed. In July / August 2003 THW carried out a first fact-finding mission, after the US administration agreed on the offer of the German government to rehabilitate public infrastructure. In September 2003 THW sent four experts to rehabilitate the water supply system. Main tasks were, mainly for the city of Baghdad:

- Support to find and repair leakages in the supply system
- Rehabilitation of laboratory for water analyses (drinking water and
sewerage)
- Procurement of material to rehabilitate the water supply system
(pipes, pumps, lorries, etc.)
- Supervision of rehabilitation works of water supply system
